For starters, the Source Four utilizes the new 575W HPL lamp. The HPL is more efficient, brighter, and has a cooler operating temperature than standard 1000W FEL's. The Source Four also uses a molded dichroic reflector and a unique single lens optical system rather than the common two lens optical train found in most ellipsoidals. These unique features make for an impressive fixture that produces some impressive results; the Source Four requires 45% less electrical energy but produces 40% more light than conventional 1kW ellipsoidals. This fixture also has a cooler beam temperature so shutter, pattern, and color filter life are all extended, and the Source Four's optical system greatly reduces halation so shutter cuts are sharp and clean. The Source Four also features a rotating shutter gate assembly that allows for a wide range of shuttering and pattern options. The Source Four is solidly constructed of aluminum and has insulated controls, a positive locking steel yoke, and comes with a 36", 3-wire cable lead.
